Prevention of major risks: the Institute is supporting Lebanon

Following the explosion in the port of Beirut on 4 August 2020, the Institute is giving technical assistance to the Lebanese government departments in order to improve the prevention of major risks on the ground.

Under the aegis of the French Embassy, these interventions consist in:
•    leading training sessions for fire crews and inspectors of classified installations, in order to strengthen the prevention of major accidents (regulations, hazard studies, emergency plans, inspections of high-risk sites, etc.);
•    assisting the Lebanese state in creating a map of the risks in the country.
This project should be continued until the end of the year and involves about ten missions in the country, in collaboration with fire crews that specialise in chemical hazards.
