    Closer scientific partnership between the INERIS and the CEREMA

    The French National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks (Institut National de l’Environnement Industriel et des Risques - INERIS) and the French Centre for Research on Risks, Environment, Mobility, and Urban Planning (Centre d'Etudes et d'Expertise sur les Risques, l'Environnement, la Mobilité et l'Aménagement - CEREMA) renewed their scientific collaboration on 30th March 2022 by signing a partnership agreement. The two institutions therefore have a framework formalising a five-year work cycle and reinforcing existing cooperation in areas of shared interest.

    REACH: packaging matters too!

    The European LIFE AskREACH project and Scan4Chem app aim to raise awareness among consumers and manufacturers of chemicals in items and, in particular, the presence of substances of very high concern (SVHCs, according to REACH rules). Mixtures (such as foods, household or cleaning products, inks and paints) are not covered by the Scan4Chem app, but their packaging is.

    The French National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks (INERIS) is approved by the British government for the certification of pyrotechnic items under the UKCA standard

    In early January 2022, the INERIS was approved by the British government for the certification of pyrotechnic items, including airbags, under the UKCA standard. As a result of Brexit, CE-marked products can no longer be placed on the UK market from 1 January 2023. Instead, they will have to comply with British standards and be UKCA-marked.

    The HyPSTER project is gearing up for its construction phase

    The EU HyPSTER project, which was launched in January 2021 and is the first green-hydrogen underground storage facility demonstrator supported by the European Union, is moving forward with the completion and approval of its engineering studies. Once done, the construction phase, which will include building an above-ground hydrogen production platform and converting a salt cavity into a hydrogen storage facility, will be able to begin.

    The Scan4Chem app has been advising you with your purchases for a year

    As part of the EU LIFE AskREACH project, the French National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks (INERIS) is assisting with the roll-out of the Scan4Chem mobile app in France. It has been available in France for a year now and aims to raise awareness among consumers and manufacturers about the issue of chemicals in everyday objects.
    This app is the only one of its kind in Europe and helps both consumers to exercise their right to know whether there are chemical substances in products and manufacturers to properly fulfil their legal obligations.
